QRS recognized at NAMM’s Best in Show Awards

NAPLES, FLORIDA, February 23, 2009 – QRS Music Technologies, Inc., a leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of pianos, piano-based audio and multimedia products, music and piano accessories, today announced that at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) Best in Show Awards, QRS was recognized as a “Company to Watch” for their new Story & Clark acoustic piano line in which every piano comes standard with PNOscan™, USB and MIDI ports, opening up a world of possibilities through connectivity. They were also sited for Qsync™, a patented technology that takes home entertainment to the next level – live – by synchronizing off-the-shelf concert DVDs with Pianomation®, enabling users to watch their favorite artists perform in concert while their piano plays along.

“Although we’re responsible for many innovative industry “firsts,” PNOscan is perhaps the most monumental because it gives more people than ever before access to the tools they need to learn to play the piano. We are getting great response from music teachers and students alike on this,” said Tom Dolan, President and CEO. “When it comes to innovation, QRS has always been in the forefront of the acoustic piano industry. Receiving NAMM’s Best in Show recognition for being a trailblazer is gratifying,”

PNOscan, the only retrofit optical recorder on the market, was first introduced two years ago and has gained popularity with both serious musicians and recreational players. PNOscan provides full recording and playback capabilities. PNOscan uses optical sensors to track the movement of every key as it is played and translates the sound into data for output via MIDI and USB ports.

With the proper accessories, PNOscan provides all the features and benefits of a digital piano combined with the sound, beauty and lasting value of an acoustic piano. With just a laptop and a Story & Clark piano, consumers can learn to play, compose music, practice and record and even email their performances.
“On every piano they make — at no additional charge — QRS includes a USB port. This is an amazing breakthrough that bridges the “connectivity” gap,” said Greg Billings, one of the show’s panelists and judges. “There is some excellent learning software available for people who want to learn to play but up until now there’s been a huge bridge to get it from the computer to the piano.” For more information, visit www.qrsmusic.com.
