Focus on National Marketing Effort

SENECA, Penn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 5, 2002--Thomas A. Dolan, President and Chief Executive officer, announced today certain personnel changes designed to more efficiently and effectively use the companies' resources to focus greater attention on marketing and sales.
Mr. Dolan said: "Our primary focus in the past has been the development of unique musical products with a special emphasis on our Pianomation(TM) system and various related products. Although we continue to develop, we are redirecting some of our resources to take advantage of our unique position in the market place. Certain market conditions and completed products have strengthened our position in the home entertainment market and we believe that now is the time to focus our efforts in expanding through a sales force."
He added: "Many Pianomation(TM) systems are now being sold to customers that do not plan to play the piano but rather use the system in conjunction with large screen TVs as home entertainment centers. Our new DVD series are produced especially for this type of use: high visual and audio impact. We will continue to introduce new products but the focus is now more toward marketing and establishing our brand names."
Mr. Ed Keefer has been promoted to National Sales Manager. Mr. Keefer has over 20 years experience in the piano business. Since 1994 he as successfully managed the Story & Clark piano manufacturing facility in Seneca, PA. Prior to joining the Company, he had run his own piano dealership and a piano manufacturing company. He will be responsible for the North East region in addition to supervising five sales people. Mr. Dan Shirey will handle his former production responsibilities in Seneca.
Mr. Bob Berkman has been promoted to Marketing Manager. Mr. Berkman, who has been employed by the company for almost 30 years, will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic marketing plans for the Company. His primary focus will be creating and maintaining our brand, image and message through the use of the various media outlets and trade shows. Mr. Berkman is located at the Buffalo, NY, office. He will also oversee all aspects of marketing, including manuals, catalogs, brochures and the Web.
Mr. Tim Omiatek will serve as the South Central regional sales representative. He has over 15 years experience in the piano business and is a trained piano technician and tuner. He has also been involved in piano manufacture at the Story & Clark manufacturing facility. In addition to his sales responsibilities, he will be responsible for establishing the plans for the sale of our piano supply products and certification of technicians for Pianomation(TM).
Mr. Terry Dolan will serve as the North Central regional sales representative. Terry has been with QRS for almost 20 years. He has held various positions in R&D, customer service, installations and purchasing. In addition to his sales responsibilities, he will be responsible for establishing sales plans for the international and education markets.
Ms. Sue Keefer will serve as the Mid-Eastern regional sales representative. She has been with QRS and Story & Clark in various sales positions for over 15 years. Also, she will be responsible for establishing sales plans for the religious market.
Mr. Bruce Hindla will be increasing the scope of his activities to represent all facets of QRS' business in the South East region. He has been selling pianos for almost 25 years. In addition to his sales responsibilities, he will coordinate sales plans for the Game Room Series of pianos and interface with direct commercial customers.
QRS Music markets the QRS Pianomation(TM) system that can turn any piano into a reproducing player piano. A hardware and software process can store and transport Musical Instrument Digital Interface ("MIDI") information as an analog signal. This process gives QRS the ability to store, and wirelessly transmit, MIDI performance data in an analog format from a controller (CD, video, cassette, DVD, DAT or Minidisc) to the receiver on the piano. This creates numerous possibilities. For example, most off-the-shelf audio equipment has a left and right channel available for use. State-of-the-art technology permits QRS to store the digital signal in an analog format on the left channel of the software which operates those players. This leaves the right channel available for live prerecorded audio music, even vocal recordings. Pianomation(TM) blends them together in perfect harmony and perfect synchronization. The Pianomation(TM) MIDI System is the first product of its kind to "marry" analog and digital technology.
